Character and Citizenship Education
Character and Citizenship Education (CCE)
At Temasek Primary School, we design and implement CCE programmes and learning experiences that engage students both cognitively and affectively. These experiences enable students to apply the values and social-emotional skills taught in CCE lessons and develop the 21st Century Competencies (21CC) necessary for their future.
Cyber Wellness
The school leverages Safer Internet Day, a global campaign promoting the responsible use of online platforms and mobile devices, to keep our community informed of current cyber wellness trends and threats. This reinforces cyber wellness messages taught during CCE lessons.
Through this programme, students develop the 21CC of Civic Literacy, Global Awareness and Cross-Cultural Skills. By participating in a global campaign and learning about responsible online behaviour, they become more aware of their digital footprint, develop civic consciousness in the digital community, and stay informed on worldwide digital citizenship practices.

Education and Career Guidance (ECG)
The school works closely with partners from the School Advisory Committee, Parent Support Group and Alumni to provide meaningful ECG learning experiences for students.
ECG Sharing by Parents
Parents are invited to share about their careers with their children’s classes, including:
· How they chose their career pathways
· What sparked their interest
· How continuous learning helps them stay relevant in an evolving landscape
These sharings help students develop Civic Literacy, Global Awareness and Cross-Cultural Skills as they gain insights into Singapore’s diverse economy and workforce, and understand how different professions contribute to society.
Motivational Talk by Alumni
Alumni are invited to share their personal experiences from their Primary 6 journey, including:
· Challenges faced in their academic journey
· How they overcame obstacles
· Practical study tips and exam preparation strategies
Primary 6 ECG Seminar
This seminar provides students with opportunities to explore educational pathways and careers aligned with their strengths and aspirations. Students attend talks by industry professionals, listen to talks by secondary schools, and visit external organisations.
These experiences nurture Critical and Inventive Thinking, helping students reflect on their interests and explore a range of viable future options.
School-based Character Education (CE) Lessons
In addition to the national CCE (FTGP) and CCE (MTL) curricula, the school designs its own character education lessons for Primary 1 and 2 to lay the foundation for personal and professional effectiveness. Students learn the six school values and the Eight Habits:
1. Habit 1 – Be Proactive
2. Habit 2 – Begin with the End in Mind
3. Habit 3 – Put First Things First
4. Habit 4 – Think Win-Win
5. Habit 5 – Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood
6. Habit 6 – Synergise
7. Habit 7 – Sharpen the Saw
8. Habit 8 – Find Your Voice and Inspire Others to Find Theirs
Student Leadership Development
Student leaders are identified in every class to support the implementation of CCE programmes within and beyond the classroom.
CCE Leaders
CCE Leaders support teachers during NE Commemorative Days, lead kindness and gratitude activities, and lead in the recitation of the Temasek Leaders’ Character Pledge in class.
Cyber Wellness Leaders
Cyber Wellness Leaders assist peers in using digital devices during lessons, support teachers with cyber wellness activities, and assist teachers in preparing the class for technology-assisted activities.
Environment Leaders
Environment Leaders help maintain classroom cleanliness and promote sustainability practices.
Peer Support Leaders
Peer Support Leaders are trained in Peer Bonding, Peer Helping and Peer Influencing to support classmates’ emotional and social well-being.
Values In Action (VIA)
VIA programmes develop Temasekians as servant leaders who contribute meaningfully to their communities, both locally and globally.
Clean and Green Award
This termly award recognises classes that demonstrate responsibility for maintaining their learning spaces and adopting sustainable habits at home and in school.
Clean Plate Campaign
Through participation in the Clean Plate Campaign by Food from the Heart, students learn:
· the effort involved in producing food
· the environmental impact of food wastage
· how to take ownership of reducing waste
This programme strengthens civic responsibility and global awareness of sustainability issues.
Community Litter-Picking
Aligned with the Primary 4 CCE unit Contributing to My Community, students participate in a litter-picking activity around the neighbourhood.
Through this experience, they develop:
· Civic Literacy by understanding their role in maintaining a clean environment
· Global Awareness of environmental issues
· Critical and Inventive Thinking as they reflect on and propose solutions to community littering
Support Staff Appreciation
This programme builds an inclusive school culture where students recognise and appreciate the contributions of support staff.
Students participate in meet-and-greet sessions, where staff share about their roles. Teachers provide interpretation support when needed. Through these interactions, students develop cross-cultural skills, and respect for different jobs that contribute to the smooth running of the school.
